Our local hunting grounds are not over run with hunters with plenty of space for local hunters and we intend to keep it that way . We are able to guide waterfowl hunts in this beautiful Wildlife Refuge by privilege and respecting those who regularly hunt here goes a long way.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
During our waterfowl season be prepared for a wide range of weather. The temps can be as low at 10 degrees while we are setting up decoys and warm up to 70 degrees by 10 am. Layers are the way to go. We use Hot Hands brand of hand warmers for your boots and gloves. Wear all camo attire for any outer layer. Its does not need to be expensive name brand gear. By the time Ducks and Geese make there ay this south they are very educated and concealment becomes critical. Walmart and Big 5 gear is plenty fine. We do provide you with neoprene waders if you don't have them yourself. On our Farm Filed Goose hunts its a good idea to still bring your own waders if you have them. More time then not the ground will have moister, however a good pair of bibs and hunting boots gets the job done.
When hunting from our 21 foot 6 man Sneak box style boat on the marsh you can get a wide range of weather. One thing we can be sure of it will be cold when we are launching, can be as low as 10 degrees and warm up to 75 by 9 am. Dress in layers. you will be dry for your entire hunt. If we are lucky and have good wind expect some wind chill in that early morning. Most common birds on the marsh are, Pintail, Teal, Mallards, Canvas Back, Redhead, Merganser, Northern Shovler, Blue Bill, Gadwell, Widgeon, Golden Eye, Snow Goose and Buffle Head along with many more visitors passing through.
This type of hunt is for the hunter who wants some serious adventure. Things can get downright NASTY on these hunts. You will be laying on ground that is just above freezing and wet if not in the water itself. These hunts are possible December and January when different gravel bars get exposed and these bars can change from week to week. This video shows one of the more nasty days. This hunt is not the same as our River Hunt by Boat. This is gravel bar hunting and can produce some crazy good results for those that want to put some adventure and work into their hunt. These hunts are super unpredictable and that's what's exiting about them. You can get everything from Mallards, Bufflehead, Widgeon, Gadwell, Redhead, Canvas Back, Snow Goose, Canada Goose, Ring Neck, Golden Eye and many more as waterfowl uses the river as a flyway, so you never know whats going to come through.
This one of our afternoon small spread goose hunts. Although we usually run a spread of over 1000 decoys when goose hunting, afternoon goose hunts using a strike mission Strategy can be fun. We scout the afternoon flight patterns for a couple of hours then pick our spot and quickly set up. We often do this after a morning hunt went down and still have room to fill our quota.
